Mental Health Awareness

I felt like this was a good time to write about mental health since it seems to be on the rise due to the current conditions in our world. You can do everything right physically but it won't matter until you take care of your mental wellbeing.

So many people struggle with anxiety and depression. I used to have a really hard time with these two conditions as well. Anxiety and depression will come and go but if you can learn how to manage it, you will feel much better.

Some tips for managing your mental health are:

  1. Get outside. These energies get trapped in your body and they need a way to escape. If you change your environment while incorporating movement, the energy of depression and anxiety will be able to leave.

  2. Deep breathing. Breath work is an amazing activity to do to bring your body back into the present moment. You can look up videos on youtube and do guided breath work or meditations.

  3. Affirmations + Journaling. I write words of affirmation on a paper and I post them on my mirror so that I see them every morning. Bonus points if you say them while looking straight into the mirror. Journaling is so important because we have so many thoughts and feelings going through us that aren't always able to be expressed. It helps to write those out and express how you feel if you can't talk to someone.

  4. Personal Development books and podcasts.. Motivate yourself by listening to these. I love Abraham Hicks and law of attraction. Gary Vee and Tony Robbins are great motivational speakers. If you go on Amazon and type in "Personal Development books", heaps of information will come up. You can also feel free to reach out to me and I would be happy to give my favorite recommendations.

  5. Self Care. Take a hot bath. Add essential oils or epsom salt and relax. Give yourself time to center yourself and just be. So often, we are doing, doing, doing but we rarely are being.
